=== Exhibits === The museum debuted a new exhibit on November 22, 2013. It consists of the engine of the Missouri Packet, the first steamboat to sink in the Missouri River in 1820. The Hawleys excavated its engine in 1987, just outside the small town of Arrow Rock, Missouri. It did not yield many other artifacts, yet still inspired the Hawleys to continue their quest for sunken steamboats. David Hawley told The Kansas City Star, "An engine like this has never been on display." He believes it to be the oldest extant maritime steam engine in the United States. In January 2013, the museum was closed for the first time in its 20-year history, to repair the ceiling and have the displays cleaned, reorganized, and expanded.

== Charges == On October 20, 2017, a week after the prison attack, the four prisoners – 28-year-old Mikel Brady, 29-year-old Wisezah Buckman, 30-year-old Jonathan Monk and 33-year-old Seth Frazier – were charged with murder for the killings they committed throughout the attack. In June 2018, it was confirmed that all the four accused would undergo separate trials for the 2017 prison murders. On October 13, 2018, District Attorney Andrew Womble confirmed that he would seek the death penalty for all the four inmates. Under North Carolina state law, the death penalty was the maximum sentence for first degree murder.
=== Recent history === An IRA bomb exploded near the railway station in March 1997, damaging signalling equipment. The original IRA message was confusing and led to the evacuation of the Wilmslow police station to the local leisure centre not far from the explosion. Nobody was hurt. In the general election of the same year, the parliamentary constituency of Tatton, in which Wilmslow falls, made headlines as part of the "sleaze" accusations levelled against the then Conservative Government. Tatton MP, Neil Hamilton, was accused of accepting cash for tabling Parliamentary questions; he was defeated subsequently in the election by independent candidate Martin Bell. === Other treatments === Other treatments include anabolic steroids, medical grade honey, negative pressure wound therapy, phototherapy, pressure relieving devices, reconstructive surgery, support surfaces, ultrasound and topical phenytoin. There is little or no evidence to support or refute the benefits of most of these treatments compared to each other and placebo. It is not clear if electrical stimulation is an effective treatment for pressure ulcers. In addition, the benefit of using systemic or topical antibiotics in the management of pressure ulcer is still unclear. When selecting treatments, consideration should be given to patients' quality of life as well as the interventions' ease of use, reliability, and cost. The benefits of nutritional interventions with various compositions for pressure ulcer treatment are uncertain.
On 1 April, North Korean public health official Pak Myong-su stated that North Korea had no cases of the virus. Edwin Salvador, the WHO's representative in North Korea, reported that as of 2 April, 709 people had been tested, with no confirmed cases, and 509 people were in quarantine. On 23 April, it was reported that the country had conducted 740 COVID-19 tests, and all of them came back negative. The same day, Daily NK reported that a defecting North Korean who was shot by a Chinese border guard while attempting to cross the Tumen River into China tested positive for the virus, and was under quarantine in a Chinese hospital. On 11 April, Kim Jong Un presided over a meeting of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea. The meeting adopted a joint resolution by the Central Committee, State Affairs Commission, and the Cabinet, "on more thoroughly taking national measures for protecting the life and safety of our people from the worldwide epidemic disease". The resolution called to take strict national countermeasures to thoroughly check the inroads of the virus due to the steady spread of the epidemic. From mid to late April, restrictions on foreigners travelling in Pyongyang were relaxed, Nampo harbour was reopened to container ships, and the 14th Supreme People's Assembly with hundreds of delegates was held without the wearing of face masks. On 23 April, US analyst website 38 North reported that North Korea's early and extensive response appeared to be successful in containing the virus.
Freeman had four film releases in 1989. In the first, he starred as Sergeant Major John Rawlins in Glory, directed by Edward Zwick, about the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, the Union Army's second African-American regiment in the American Civil War. Writing for The Washington Post, Desson Thomson praised Freeman and co-star Denzel Washington for their "warming sense of fraternity". Glory was nominated for five Academy Awards and won three: Best Supporting Actor for Washington, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound. Next, Freeman starred in the comedy-drama Driving Miss Daisy, alongside Jessica Tandy and Dan Aykroyd. Plasma-activated water (PAW) is water that has been treated using cold atmospheric plasma (CAP). Possible uses for PAW include in medical treatments such as wound healing and cancer treatment, along with agriculture processes, from seed germination to crop protection. Additionally, PAW has the potential to replace the use of more toxic chemicals for the elimination of spoilage bacteria in foodstuffs. Other uses have been explored in materials processing, materials synthesis, and analytical chemistry.
The scope of these studies differs depending on the research question being addressed, the geographical coverage and the hidden impacts to be included in the analysis. There are many hidden impacts and some are difficult to measure or quantify. For example, environmental externalities such GHG emissions are easy to include in any TCA analysis due to a wide availability of relevant data. However, the hidden impacts related to human and social capitals might be more difficult to find. Examples include impacts on working conditions (human capital) and cultural identity (social capital). In 2019, a study by the World Bank estimated the hidden costs of foodborne diseases (from unsafe food) in low and middle-income countries and found these to amount to USD 95.2 billion.
=== Border controls and traffic restrictions === Switzerland temporarily reintroduced controls at the border with France from 10 to 19 June 2026. The Federal Council stated that although the summit would take place in France, Geneva, Lausanne and the wider Lake Geneva region were exposed to security risks connected with the event. In the canton of Geneva, only seven road border crossings with France remained open from 12 to 18 June 2026: Anières, Moillesulaz, Thônex-Vallard, Bardonnex, Perly, Meyrin and Ferney-Voltaire. Crossings through railway stations and Geneva Airport remained authorised, but other crossings, including for cyclists and pedestrians, were restricted. Geneva authorities also warned of disruption to public transport, road traffic, as well as temporary restrictions affecting some public spaces. A priority access sticker system, known as a macaron, was introduced for eligible essential workers and residents. Geneva authorities stated that access to Switzerland remained possible without one, subject to controls and available crossings. Additional traffic restrictions were introduced on the Geneva motorway network, including restrictions on the A1 motorway between Geneva Airport and the Bardonnex customs crossing during the summit period.
